BALCONY TRAILS
“Petits balcons” trails present very little difficulty. Mostly in the forest, they are at a near valley-bottom altitude (1200m/3’960; 1300m/ 4’290).They are accessible them from pretty much anywhere, and an ideal choice on rainy days.

Little stories between us (extract from the collections « les Patrimoines » -éditions le Dauphiné- : « Le Mont-Blanc, temple de l’alpinisme ») :

« In order to introduce snow activities to the people from cities as well as mountains, and most particularly skiing activity, the Alpine French Club organizes in Chamonix an «international race» in 1908. The Parisian media, invited to the event, are very surprised to discover the perfect technic of the Scandinavian teams whereas the French team feels not at all at ease! This race is so successful that from that date hundreds and then thousands people come back to Chamonix to enjoy the pleasure of the “Scandinavian skating” practise. From now on the “Chamoniards” will stop to consider snow as a disconvenience and will equip the Chamonix Valley with hotels, trains, cable-cars in order to welcome more and more tourists and gather the dividends of the “White Gold”
